Every year thousands of lives are shortened by violence in the black community. While in the public eye others may see lack of education and great jobs play a factor in violence and poverty in black communities. It is shallow that violence corrupts low-income neighborhoods. The root of violence in the black community is because they have little to no stake in the community. The root of violence in many black communities and their environment lies upon the lack of opportunities to allow individuals to network and express their interest in what the community needs. To address this issue, it is essential to prioritize neighborhood engagement and economic empowerment, to help create surroundings where people feel vested in their communities.
