Question:
“Why is the current international system often described as Euro-
or Western-Centric? Are we now entering a more ‘multiplex’
world order? Focus on three specific themes or issues in your
answer.”
Criteria for evaluation:
– Is there a clear and compelling central argument?
– Is the argument developed in a well-organized and well
reasoned manner?
– Is evidence used to effectively and accurately support the
argument, with properly cited sources?
– Is the essay written in a clear, grammatically correct and
engaging way?
NB: Read McGlinchey, chs. 1-8 & 11 as the point of departure for
your analysis. Beyond the text, you should cite an additional 2-4
sources, for a total of at least 3-5 sources. At least one of these
sources should be a peer-reviewed academic (journal) article. All
sources (including chapters from the text) must be cited
accurately and completely, using the format of the Chicago
Manual of Style author/date system (see
http://libraries.dal.ca/help/style-guides.html). This incorporates a reference
list, and in-text citations including author, date, and page
references.Words used for citations will not be counted in the total words for
the essay.
Your essay should be 1,000-1,250 words (4-5 typed, double-
spaced pages). It is due electronically by Monday, 3 February at
11:59pm.
