Finding your focus and developing a line of inquiry
Choose one of the following themes: Globalization, Human Rights and Ethics, or Technology. Within that theme focus on a specific issue that interests you. Conduct preliminary research to understand the current debates and find gaps in the information. From your preliminary research, further refine your focus to a specific aspect, group or case and start to formulate a question. Use “how,” “why,” or “what” to develop a clear, focused, and analytical research question. Ensure your question is specific, researchable, and allows for critical analysis. Ask for input to improve clarity and focus.
Writing the essay
Write a 1,500-word analytical essay that explores your research question. Your essay should explore the societal, ethical, and global implications of the issue, offering a balanced critique of its positive and negative dimensions. Use real-world examples and academic research to support your analysis and propose insightful reflections on the future of the issue.
You should make use of at least 5 credible academic sources and use APA 7th Edition referencing style. All planning, drafting, and writing should be done in Cadmus. You are not permitted to use any AI tools for this assessment. The draft submission is not optional however it is not graded – it will be used in class for consultations as well as peer review.
