Grading for a Peer Review

Honesty is the best and only policy in this assignment. If you don’t help your classmate by pointing out where they need to work on their essay, their essay will potentially lose more points when I grade it.

MLA, using the sample paper that is posted, check the essay and make sure it is in MLA.

Start with:

  • header, .5 inches from the top right: Last Name and Page number. – 2 points if this is incorrect
  • heading, one inch from top: their name, class name, my name, date. – 2 points if this is incorrect
  • Title: is centered, no bolds, capitalized and punctuated properly. – 2 points if this is incorrect
  • Is the essay double spaced throughout? – 2 points if this is incorrect
  • Is the Works Cited on a separate page, with alphabetized authors, hanging indents, proper and complete citation information for each source. – 2 points if this is incorrect.
  • Are the writers names and titles of sources correct in the Works Cited? Are they assigned sources? – 2 points if this is incorrect
  • are the a minimum of four sources in the Works Cited – 2 points if this is incorrect
  • Is the paper 3 full pages minimum? – 2 points if this is incorrect

Introduction Paragraph:

  • Are all the Main Sources, author’s names and titles of sources in this paragraph? – 2 points if this is incorrect
  • Thesis, go to the last sentence in the introduction paragraph, there should be three topics. – 2 points if this is incorrect

Body Paragraphs

  • Are the topics that are listed in the Thesis in each topic sentence? – 2 points if this is incorrect
    • the topics need to be in the order and in the same wording as in the thesis
  • Is there a lead in (one or two sentences) before the beginning of a quote? – 2 points if this is incorrect
  • Is the quote properly punctuated, and there is a citation? – 2 points if this is incorrect
    • if there are four lines of quote it should be a correctly formatted Block Quote. – 2 points if this is incorrect
  • Is there a transition or explanatory sentence following each quote? – 2 points if this is incorrect
  • are there six quotes total? – 2 points if this is incorrect
  • are the quotes complete sentences? – 2 points if this is incorrect
  • only the conclusion can use the first person “I”. – 2 points if this is incorrect
