Assignment 2: Interest Holders Analysis (Individual)
Before developing a policy, decision-makers, and organizations must first identify the problem (stage 1); identify primary and secondary interest holders (stage 2) and understand the contextual environment (stage 3). For this assignment, you must select an issue that you feel needs attention.
The interest holder analysis will be completed in three parts.
Part 1: define the problem and identify contributing factors. In this section, you should discuss the problem faced by a group in society or the whole country. In this section, you can focus on the following questions: (1) What factors have caused this problem? (2) How are they impacted by this problem? (3) Does the impact vary among different groups or members of society?
Part 2: identify relevant primary and secondary interest holders in relation to this problem. To get a better understanding of the different interest holders, you must analyze the link and relationship among them. This can include key people, groups, and organizations that have a direct influence/interest on the problem and public policy. For this section, you can include a interest and rights holder matrix that highlights the level of interest and engagement for each interest/rights holder, invested parties, and affected groups/peoples and parties involved. The analysis should discuss each interest holders’ interest in relation to the problem and possible solution.
Part 3 will present a proposed policy for the selected problem keeping in mind the political, societal, and economic contextual environment. For example, you can apply a PEST analysis, which focuses on how political, economic, social, and technological factors can impact the viability of your recommendations.
Please note that the report must be written in proper essay format; no point form essays will be accepted. The report should be between 1,000 and 1,500 words; double-spaced; APA formatted; and submitted as Word Document.
