Reviewing the Theoretical Perspectives of Catherine MacKinnon and her book “Women’s lives, Men’s laws.”

Feminist Theory Paper Topic:

For this project you will choose a feminist theorists/theoretical perspective from the course
readings and examine their assumptions/positions. Mine is: Catherine MacKinnon and her book “Women’s lives, Men’s laws.”

You may apply a feminist theoretical perspective to an institution if you like, this institution could be a workplace, your family, your place of religious worship, a government or administration office, and/or an educational institution, among others. Examples include: “Applying the Feminist Theory of bell hooks to U.S. Family Life, or, “Examining Sexual Harassment in the U.S. Workplace Through the Lens of Catherine MacKinnon.” I am flexible.

I encourage you to pick a feminist theorist/theory you are interested in and want to learn more about. The paper will be approximately 10-12+ pages long. In this paper, you will cite at least 10 outside sources found in refereed academic journals or academic books.

Critical Thinking Rubric Criteria:

· Explanation of Issues – what are the theoretical position(s) explained by the theorists/theories

· Evidence – clearly explain the feminist theory.

· Influence of Context and Assumptions regarding a particular feminist theory – for example: How would a particular feminist theorist explain how household labor by gender difference is organized in the U.S. family?

· Critical/Reflexive Thinking – Where do you agree and disagree with the feminist theorist you are reviewing? Do you agree with a particular feminist theoretical explanation? Why? Why not?
