Your paper should be 6-7 double spaced pages, 12 point Times New Roman font, 1 in margins
and adhere to APA 6th editions Style. Include a title page and a reference page.
Please use the following format in preparing your Personal Narrative, showing each of the five
sections listed below with corresponding headers. The headings should be bold face and
centered.
Integrative Studies. Your personal definition should connect to the definition provided to you. In other words, tell me what Integrative Studies means to you and how it might be beneficial.
Remember Integrative Studies is not the same as Interdisciplnary Studies.
You choose how far you go back. You only have 500 words for this section so choose
carefully. I assume that many of you will have some discontinuities here. BE SURE to read
Bateson’s article posted in Blackboard, and reference her work in comparison to your
experiences.
What is happening in your life now that will have an impact on your future? What kind of
impact do you hope your decisions will have? In this section you should be discussing your
degree program and areas of concentration. You could give a brief history of how you
ended up in the University Studies program. Again, I expect to read about some
discontinuities here.
what seems to connect your experiences, personally and educationally. What is the
thread(s) that run through those discontinuous experiences that help weave your story
together in a cohesive way?
5. Continuity (500 Words). In this section I want you to be precise in summarizing the
continuity within discontinuity. Since we are using thread as a metaphor for connection,
think of this section as your quilt. This section should be a coming together, an unfolding of
your quilt. Reveal the big picture here. How do you create continuity from your
discontinuous experiences? How will this new found continuity help shape your career and
future plans
