1. Check the title page for common errors:

• Is the title centered and capitalized and bold (no underline)? YES NO

• Is the name of the course centered under the title? YES NO

• Is the word count centered under the course name? YES NO

• Is there a page number in the upper right corner? YES NO

• Is the whole text Times New Roman 12 pt. double-spaced? YES NO

• Are margins set at one inch YES NO

1. Check the References page:

• References is centered, bold, and starts a new page? YES NO

• Double-spaced; there are no extra spaces between entries YES NO

• Are entries in alphabetical order? YES NO

• Citations to the left?  The second line of any entry is indented? YES NO

• Capitalization follows APA guidelines (sentence style)? YES NO

• Titles of major works are italicized? YES NO

Note to author – all of the above answers should be “YES”. Please revise as necessary.

1. Go through the paper. 

• For each citation you see, check to see that it is in the correct format.  

• Additionally, check off the corresponding source on the Reference page. 

• Please note the sources on the Reference page that you do not check off. The author will need to add a citation from this source into the paper or remove the reference. 

• Also mark any in text citations that do not have a matching source on the Reference page. The author will need to add the source information to the Reference page. 

• If there are no citations, or if there is no Reference page (or if there are neither), write the following in large letters at the top of the page:  PLAGIARISM WARNING: ADD CITATIONS AND/OR REFERENCES
