The Police and other emergency services often attend numerous calls to respond to Missing children from Local Authority Care. The response is complex, the police have to grade the risk and with this, the resource level will be commensurate.
When a person goes missing, it is an investigation but compounded by the not having a victim. Young people who go missing on a regular basis are exposed to a number of vulnerable situations such as exploitation, drugs or crime.
We must not lose sight that they be hiding from abuse at home/care accommodation or bullying.
As an essay plan consider:
· Context and strategic back ground to missing people
· Multi agencies involved
· Critically examine how the Police respond, be balanced, what works against what could be improved
· What are the government doing in terms of policy?
· What are the risks exposed to missing children?
· Examine risk assessment and the associated costs
· How do the Police manage the Media and what is the impact of this?
· Provide recommendations on the Police could improve in their response or management of missing children (include, costs, logistics and what value your recommendation makes)
