Directions: Write a paper and present your findings that explores a topic related to WWII and the world. You will write a formal research paper on a topic that connects to World War II and, in a balanced essay, connect that topic to the current world we’re living in. Holistic Grading Rubric Here
For the world aspect, consider “the world” broken down into MISHAP (Media, Industry, Science, History, Art, Politics). Hint – if you can’t connect your topic to something broader than just WWII, you need to choose a different topic or avenue of topic. A link to step-by-step research is here.
For example, if I want to talk about the benefit of hope in the concentration camps during WWII, I would see what the text says about hope (text), giving textual context and support and then research data about how hope affected outcomes of people in concentration camps and maybe even other places (world – History & Science).
YOU MAY WORK ON THIS WITH ONE OTHER PERSON IF YOU CHOOSE. PARTNERS MUST DO 3 BODY PARAGRAPHS AND SPLIT THE WORK EVENLY.
Essay Organization:
Introduction BP #1 = sub-topic #1: Compare and contrast text -world BP #2 = sub-topic #2: Compare and contrast text – world ADD ONE MORE IF YOU ARE WORKING WITH A PARTNER Conclusion |

Body Paragraphs will be balanced. This means if you use 2 (1 is the minimum) pieces of support, then you will need to use 2 pieces of evidence from a minimum of 2 outside sources to connect to the world. You may be comparing and contrasting which ultimately means bringing two different pieces of information together, showing examples AND discussing How they’re similar and / or dissimilar. You may also be building connections or showing the how or why through your world connections.
For example: If I chose to write about what it means to be a hope, I may talk in one paragraph about how hope can impact the outcome of survival.
How does hope impact survival?
Text: I would find 1-2 examples in the text of what hope helping with survival looks like in the WWII
World: Then I might find 1-2 pieces of evidence that shows the science behind how hope has impacted people’s survival in other situations.
