America and the World Research assignment
Throughout this unit you will be researching and learning about American foreign policy, specifically in relation to the nation’s decision to remain isolated from global events such as wars or to intervene in them.
Task: Pick an event from this timeline and contextualize and explain why, or why not the United States isolated or intervened in it.
This is to be done in a 3-4 page thesis driven research paper. Your paper needs to be in MLA format with proper MLA citations.
Source requirements:
- 2 primary sources
- 2 secondary sources 1 of which must be peer reviewed articles or books from a historian
- Gale has already been linked for you in Canvas they provide you with access to peer reviewed articles. You can also use OUHSD’s digital library to get access to other research engines.
AI Expectations:
You are expected to turn in a paper of your own original work and analysis. AI is not to be used in any capacity in the actual writing of your paper. If you are struggling with writing please utilize pear deck tutor. A great service paid for you by the district to get personalized help and assistance.
AI CAN be used to help you with the research portion of your paper
- Can be used to help brainstorm ideas if you are stuck
- Can be used to help you narrow down search terms
Please be aware that it is not a good idea to ask AI to find sources for you. It has frequently been found that AI such as ChatGPT will make up sources that do no exist at all. Always be sure that you can find the source yourself outside of any sort of AI engine.
Peer Review day:
We will have a peer review day in class 12/18, please have a rough draft ready to have your peers review and provide feedback using the rubric as a guide. Even just an intro paragraph
