3.2 Assignment: Common or Uncommon? Aviation/Aerospace Workplace Hazard Analysis Techniques

Class is MSAS 612 – APA 7th Edition is required for all citations and references. 3-5 slide presentation (preferably 5) with audio is required. Audio can be AI generated.

For this activity, you will develop a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for a common task for a non-flight organization workplace. To get started, review the Baggage Handling eTool (OSHA) of an airport (select the arrows associated with each type of baggage handling system to view identified hazards and potential solutions).

Note: Any tasks detailed in the OSHA eTool (ticket counter, make-up room, and baggage handling) are NOT acceptable for this activity or your research project!

Your assignment may be for a task in your selected workplace program for your white paper research project. You will identify that task or work area in the next activity. Using your selected workplace program is encouraged for this activity as it will help you generate the mindset for creating the required safety program for your project. JHA is a step-by-step process! Please see Job Hazard Analysis: A Step-By-Step Guide (SIAIG)Links to an external site. for a review.

  • Your presentation should be no more than ten slides (3-5 is ideal).
  • To develop your JHA, you may incorporate or use the JHA Analysis Worksheet (DOCX).Download JHA Analysis Worksheet (DOCX).
  • Your presentation must have audio (any type of audio is acceptable for the assignment).
  • Don’t be afraid to take some creative license and think about how you can incorporate other visual aids to add to your presentation.
  • You may submit it in any format that works best for your JHA:
    • a file upload,
    • embedded HTML presentation,
    • or a link to an external presentation, etc.

Note: Refer to the Media Hub (ERAU) (Links to an external site.) to make informed decisions about the media you create.

Review the presentation rubric before submitting your assignment to identify the qualities of effective participation in this activity.

 This activity supports Module Objective(s) 2 & 3 and Learning Outcome(s) 4.
