Hopefully using the studies noted previously in the annotated bibliography (as well as others that the student has likely read since), students will write a 4- to 5-page literature review for their proposed study. This is to follow after a title page and the previously written introduction, and before a formal reference list. This is where the student will identify and review the major studies that have examined this topic previously, describing the strengths and weaknesses, methodologically, of prior investigations. Often, students will use sub-headers to identify the different themes or areas of study that relate to the current proposal. The purpose of this section is to clarify what is known on the topic of study, what is unknown, and help motivate the current proposed investigation.
