Provide the bolded headings to organize your content and ensure all required content is clearly included
- Introduction
- State the problem or general research question (a few sentences – what is known, not known, and what is needed based on your review)
- Establish context leading to a clear statement of the specific research question ( In a few sentences – explain why the topic is important).
- Provide background and contextual material justifying why this topic should be studied
- Define key terms and theory – include scholarly definitions for the terms with the associated citations and include a few theories. See example papers in capstone template for how to format this section
- Examine the history or relevance to field – This is what is still not known about your topic
- Discuss how and what it contributes to the field – this is how the study findings are applied to the real world – implications (see annotated bibliography template)
- Explain how the topic applies to Your professional interests
- Provide background and contextual material justifying why this topic should be studied
- Communicate a clear, direct purpose statement.

- Contribution to Field- (1-2 paragraphs) Identify new knowledge gained through integration of literature findings (What new knowledge have you or do you anticipate being able to generate based on your review? - Implications for Future Research- (1-2 paragraphs) Present recommendations for future research. (see last paragraph of each study and add your own insights)
- Conclusion– Summarize the entire literature review (2 paragraphs)
