Dear Army leadership at USAGPAN:
I am driven to care for the vulnerable and to assist people in their times of greatest need. I have a passion for being able to provide care to those who are unable to care for themselves and to see the innate value in each human being. I have enjoyed many experiences in the healthcare field, from working as an emergency department medical scribe, certified nursing assistant, and as a bedside intensive care unit nurse. The valuable insight these experiences have given me is that I thrive in working through complex medical scenarios, I am a calm and compassionate caregiver, and I have a passion for teaching and guiding my patients through their healthcare journey. Healthcare is not only my passion but it is my way of serving, my way of giving back. Becoming a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) through The United States Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN) not only allows me to develop complex medical skills but also affords me the opportunity to develop leadership skills at an officer level, becoming a competent leader and skilled CRNA practitioner.
As a CRNA I will be a beacon of competence and trust for my patients and their families as they prepare for surgical procedures, birth, or the multitude of other healthcare needs that arise. I will provide sound judgment and decisive leadership to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. I am well aware that attention to detail, trust, and quality care enhance patient outcomes. I look forward to bringing this into the field of nurse anesthesia and being a face of compassion, integrity, and competence to not only my patients, but my coworkers as well.
Becoming a CRNA in the United States Army is an opportunity unlike any other as it fosters the development of decisive and competent leadership and practitioner skills. The Army provides a strong baseline of education by partnering with a renowned and rigorous education program. It further stretches and molds the skills and leadership capabilities of each practitioner upon entering the workforce. The Army is unique in that it offers CRNA’s the opportunity to practice as independent practitioners and thus further develops the independence and leadership skills of each graduate. Obtaining my CRNA education through the army combines my passion for clinical excellence with the opportunity to be a clinical leader and affect the lives of patients and families in a way that no other traditional CRNA education can provide.
My nursing professor once advised me to continue my education as far as my curiosity takes me. I intend to heed her advice. This curiosity, my keenness for continued learning, and my genuine passion for guiding my patients through their healthcare journey have led me to pursue an advanced degree as a CRNA. I know that the skills the USAGPAN will provide will allow me to combine my passion for delivering advanced medical care with my desire to improve patients’ experiences while undergoing medical procedures. With my dedication to lifelong learning and my desire to make a positive impact on the lives of my patients and coworkers, I am confident that I will be successful in The United States Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing program.
Sincerely,
