First, see the attached document to understand the topic of interest. Then, for annotated bibliographies, use standard APA format for the citations, then add a brief entry, including:
- 1-2 sentences on the main research question and the motivation behind the study
- Use google scholars to get find basic information, and then, APA PsycInfo to find the sources. You should have at least 8 sources and should do the following steps for each source:
- 2 to 3 sentences to summarize the method, results, and main idea(s) of the source.
- In a grandma-friendly fashion, explain the method to grandma. What did the participants have to do?
- In one sentence, summarize the results
- What are the main conclusions/claims drawn from the results?
- 2 to 3 sentences to assess and evaluate the source.
- How does it compare with other sources in your bibliography (does it agree with or disagree with previous findings?)
- Is the sample representative?
- Are there other methodological concerns?
- What are the limitations of the study?
- What is one way you could improve the study?
- 1 or 2 sentences to reflect on the source.
- How can you use this source for your research project?
The format for an annotated bibliography is similar to that of a research paper.
- Use one-inch margins on all sides; note “space before” and “space after” should be set to zero
- Double space your entries;
- Alphabetize each entry;
- Hanging indents are required for citations (reference list as well);
