Alternatives Generation Paper: Better Wellness Practices for Students & Educators of SDP (2)

Overview

This paper is essentially a journey through the first four steps
of the rational decision-making model (Bazerman and Moore, 2013), and will
become (once completed, assessed, and edited) the foundation of your critical
assignment. From the sector of your choice, you will identify and define a
problem, identify all relevant criteria in the decision-making process,
determine the relative value (weight) of each of the criteria identified, and
identify/research possible courses of action. While this paper is not a
literature review, the section containing the generation of alternatives may be
thought of as a review of the literature surrounding each possible course of
action. (CLOs 3, 6, 7, 8)

Assignment Criteria

Abstract (one page)

Introduction (one page)

Give a comprehensive overview of the organization so that the
reader has all necessary context to determine the effectiveness of your
ultimate decision. Include the mission/values/vision of the organization for
use later in the process. Conclude this section with a preview of the remaining
sections of the paper.

Decision-Making Steps Process (Steps 1-4) Analysis (four pages)

Rational Decision-Making Process – Describe the first four steps
of the rational decision-making process as it applies to the identified
problem. Be sure to include:

  1. Defining the problem, being careful to
    avoid the common errors of:
    1. Defining in absolute terms (either/or,
      yes/no)
    2. Defining the problem in terms of the
      proposed solution
    3. Missing a bigger problem
    4. Diagnosing the problem in terms of its
      symptoms
  2. Identifying the criteria
    1. List and describe each relevant
      criterion.
  3. Weighing the criteria – Weight each
relevant criterion in percentages (e.g., .15 equals 15 percent) that total
100 percent. All your criteria weights must add up to 100 percent.
Comprehensively explain why each criterion received its weight.
  4. Generating alternatives – Generate
three-to-five (3-5) alternatives to address the problem you have
identified. Be sure to comprehensively describe each alternative to ensure
    alignment with the previous steps.

Mitigating Bias ( one page)

Identify two heuristics/biases that could negatively impact a
potential solution to the problem you identified. Remember that any discussion
of heuristic/bias should include a definition, application, and mitigation.
Ideally, you can pick each bias from a different heuristic area of
Availability, Representativeness, or Confirmation. Use Table 3.2 for
comprehensive list of biases (Bazerman & Moore, 2013).

Ethical and Spiritual Analysis (one page)

Reflect on the decision-making process, evaluate the fairness of
the decision-making process so far. Asses the repercussions of the process on
individuals, the organization, and the primary stakeholders or end-users.

Reflect on personal faith and ethical values, consider: is your
decision aligned with the faith integration topics for this course?  If
so, how?  If not, how?  How do you think that your personal faith,
values, and personal code of ethics informed your decision-making process?

Remember

Support assertions throughout your paper with the class sources
and other additional sources as appropriate.  Students should anticipate
that this paper will be approximately eight pages in length and APA formatted (Level
I/II headings should suffice
). Suggestion: Use the above subtitles in
bold as headings for your paper. This will serve as an outline/guide for you
and assist the reader following your rationale.

Additional Information

·       The
organization I want you to focus on is the School district of Philadelphia

·       The Issue
at hand is the lack of wellness practices for students, teachers, and staff. We
have too many students who are suffering from some mental health crisis, too
many students who are misbehaving because either something is going on in the
schoolhouse or at home, and too many students harming themselves and others. As
far as teachers and staff, many of them are experiencing burnout, and that was
before the winter break.

·       I have provided
access to my ebooks. Please use them in addition to resources you may find
