will write relevant APN statutes from the Nurse Practice Act and APN Rules and
Regulations. You will compare practice environments between Hawaii and New

items should be addressed in your paper:
Introduction: A brief overview of the paper topic and
relevant factors are introduced, and the purpose of the paper assignment is
clearly stated. A brief overview of the paper- What will you discuss in this
paper? Relevant factors could be the history of the APN role, whether the APN
allows for more care, etc., and the purpose of the paper/assignment. Why are
you writing this paper?

with New Jersey (demographics of APNs in the state assigned).

Analyze restrictions for APRNs between Hawaii and New Jersey
(such as practice independent, dependent, prescriptive authority, etc.)
Analyze hospital privileges and how they work in Hawaii and
New Jersey for an APN (what does an APN have to do to get privileges at the
hospital? Can APNs get privileges at a hospital?
Analyze the nursing compact for both states (Hawaii and New Jersey) for an APN, not an
RN
Analyze palliative/end-of-life care for an APN in both states. What can APNs do in this clinical setting? (e.g., medications, pronouncing
death, DNR, etc.)
• Summary of the key
