Also the following is the advice of my supervisor:
“Taking in the examiners’ comments, they clearly want a more explicit role of Hong Kong, even though Hong Kong only accounts for just over 2% of the Chinese economy (GDP), and it has declined markedly since handover in 1997, when it accounted for over 18% of GDP. I think you could put this in Chapter 1 in the background section, possibly revisiting it .
Regarding the request of the examiners to discuss the trade imbalance on a qualitative level, again, the first chapter and revisiting it in Chapter 2 and/or Chapter 4 might be appropriate places. Chapter 4 could be the place to also include the example of ‘the direct impact of the trade imbalance on a company that perhaps is going out of business.
