An evaluation and critique of an ongoing vaccination approach specifically “Polio” in Pakistan

My group is working on an evaluation of the polio vaccination approach in pakistan, due to the fact that the wild poliovirus is still circulating in pakistan. 

Final paper Administrative Details:

• Do/write an evaluation and critique of an ongoing vaccination approach (polio), considering in detail each of the scientific and operational principles for improving prevention and control of the disease in question. Focus on epidemiological features of the disease and current and proposed interventions. Cover the challenges/obstacles to prevention and control, and, in particular, the potential solutions to each challenge. Consider what further research is needed.

• The template (with corresponding point grading system) of the paper should be:

1. Introduction: clear statement of purpose (5 points)

2. Epidemiology and disease burden in question (20 points)

3. Vaccine technical properties such as manufacturer product information (example: single or multi-dose vial, prefilled syringe, etc), type of vaccine (example: attenuated vs. killed), efficacy, effectiveness, safety considerations (20 points).

4. Operational considerations such as cold chain, human resources, training needs, vaccine price issues, capacity of health infrastructure (20 points)

5. Current interventions and proposed recommendations: should cover challenges and provide potential solutions for each challenge (20 points)

6. Considerations for future research (15 points)

• Length of paper: Approximately 4-5 pages, double-spaced)

• Please include tables or figures, and references.

• The work is split amongst 5 of us and “my part” is number 3 of the template above,  please only work/write about #3, indicated it in the bullet below: 

• What are some vaccine technical properties such as manufacturer product information (example: single or multi-dose vial, prefilled syringe, etc), type of vaccine (example: attenuated vs. killed), efficacy, effectiveness, safety considerations (20 points).

• Please write about the Polio vaccine currently in-use in pakistan, how effective it is, and go in great details about the technicals. 

• There’s no need to compare to another country but you can compare the vaccine technical propoerties in pakistan to another country where the vaccine is working/doing well, compare the efficacy’s or safety consideration some countries implemented compared to pakistan.
