The
primary purpose is to write a brief literature review chapter based on the
provided Introduction chapter (founded in the word document).
General Tips
The writing
Try
to approach this assignment in a logical and systematic way. Make sure you have
a logical structure, a convincing argument, clear description of the situations
which ‘set the scene’, and clear explanation which relate to theories, and a
conclusion that draws your argument together.
Literature Review
1. Remember to organize it in
sub-sections (do not make one big chunk of text)
2. Organise along a coherent line of
thought (for your prospective reader) (ensure that paragraphs are linked) +
material related to RQ
3. Remember to discuss theory,
empirical articles, some major authors, provide major definitions of important
concepts (ideally at the beginning of literature review), present debates, outline
literature gap (make a section on its own for this in the conclusions) the latter
should be linked to what you are going to do (in the research methodology)
4. Remember the literature review has
to be evaluative and critical
5. Be careful with referencing
(especially word for word) and make use of paraphrasing (use quotes in
moderation) (Part of the mark is usually based on the quantity + quality of
resources (use mainly academic references))
Key References
1.
The
references should comprise a variety of sources used in the text, most of which
should be academic journal articles
(remember can restrict results in searches to academic sources).
2.
Other
sources could include books, trade publications, news articles, industry
reports, company websites etc.
3.
Harvard
referencing style is compulsory!
Important Notes:
1.
You
need to use references throughout your research design section (they can be the
same as the ones used in literature review or research manual)
2.
Do not talk about research in general but always apply to the
research questions.
3.
Keep
it simple and avoid using fancy words or making it more complicated than it
needs to be.
4.
Do
not discuss results here (you have not yet collected data)
