Analyze the use of technology within an organization and propose (organizational) changes to make more efficient use of technology Intranet

Self-Directed Managerial Applications Component (SMAC)

A. Introduction: The Self-Directed Managerial Applications Component is to address an appropriate issue/problem/task within an actual organization environment. The project should apply the knowledge from the course and should provide for the development of one or more of the managerial effectiveness abilities (see section H).
The SMAC must be completed in accordance with the SMAC General Guidelines and Rules for the Completed Report found in the SMAC section of the GMS Student Handbook. Additionally, all projects will be submitted to Canvas as a Turnitin assignment. Follow the instructions for the SMAC submission provided in the SMAC module.
D. Research: The SMAC will include research from secondary sources. An invaluable tool is the Pro Quest Literary Search. If you are unfamiliar with this system, consult a reference librarian. A minimum of five current, secondary sources is required.

E. SMAC Final Report Grading:

There are a number of approaches that can satisfy the SMAC portion of this course.  Your evaluation will be based upon: 1-your ability to relate the principles that you have learned to your project and 2-the depth of your analysis/work. Other components of your grade for the SMAC are: how well organized your presentation is, the quality of your writing, and the overall professionalism of your paper. In general, the overall grade for the SMAC will be arrived at as follows:

– Relating course material to the SMAC                               25%

– Adhering to Learning Contract (incl. Ethics/Social

Responsibility Section & Mgt Abilities Assessment)        20%

– Depth of Analysis                                                                  20%

– Organization of Paper (resources/citations)                       10%

– Quality of Writing (spelling/grammar/style)                       10%

– Professionalism/ Timeliness (appearance/complete)           5%

– Oral Presentation                                                                   10%

Note: Ten (10) points will be deducted for any paper submitted 1-7 days after the due date. No papers will be accepted one week past the due date.

If the student does not submit a SMAC by the end of the semester or by an approved, extended due date, the student will be assigned an automatic grade of “F” for the course. In order to extend the SMAC due date beyond the end of the semester, an approved Request for Incomplete Grade form must be filed. Please note that it is the student’s responsibility to keep the instructor informed of reasons for late submission of coursework. It is also the student’s responsibility to obtain, complete, and submit the necessary “Request for Incomplete” form (available on the portal) to the instructor no later than the last day of class. Extensions of time to complete coursework are typically granted only when unusual, extenuating circumstances exist.
