read the Lieb and skim/explore the others, or skim the Lieb and then focus on another. The Lieb is your foundational text so you want to be sure to look at that each week. Where there is no reading from Lieb, choose 1-2 of the listed readings for that week.
1. From the Reading:
1. Give the bibliographic citation of the assigned reading you will be using to fill in this worksheet. [5 points possible.]
2. In your own words, list three things that stood out to you from this reading. After each, give the appropriate in-text citation for the point you discuss. Use your own words; do not copy from the reading.
[30 points possible; 10 per item, 8 for content and 2 for the citation. You will lose points for omitting citations for summary and paraphrase. You will lose points for quoting from the author.]
A. B. C.
3. Now pick one of the three you wrote about in the previous question. In a short paragraph of approximately 250 words, tell me more about this particular fact, story, or situation. In this response, you must incorporate one quotation from the reading with the correct in-text citation. At least 80% of the rest of your paragraph should be your own thoughts and ideas about the topic you are writing on or the quotation. Do not summarize or paraphrase from the reading. Rather, use this space to reflect or expand on what you are writing about with your own ideas. Do not just repeat the author’s ideas. I cannot stress this enough. I am interested in your ideas. Worth 40 points.
[Grading as follows: -2 for improper Citation and -10 if the required quotation is missing. -1 if the post is under 200 words or over 300 words. 30 points possible for clarity of discussion of your own thoughts & ideas around the point you choose to discuss. Use first person! Tell me what you think.]
From the Viewing/Listening:
1. What was your favorite video for this week? Use the appropriate bibliographic citation. [5 points possible.]
2. Make a connection between your favorite video and some element of the reading, using a proper citation practices if you quote, summarize, or paraphrase from the reading or from the video. Again, use first person to make it clear where you are sharing your own thoughts & ideas. [20 points possible.]
