the assignment is to write and submit a short paper using APA style on Microsoft Word.
Do not use any direct quotes in your assignment. Using direct quotes will result in a loss of points. Always paraphrase outside material in your own words and cite your sources.
APA paper instructions- the specifics:
Using a word processing program such as Microsoft Word, your assignment is to write and submit a short paper using APA style that includes the following elements.
- Running head and page numbers on each page
- Cover page with title, author (your name), and author institution (page 1)
- Abstract (page 2)—the abstract should be between 75 and 100 words
- Introduction (begins on page 3)—this can be brief, but it must:
- Cite the article by Bandura, Ross, and Ross (1961), Shutts, Kinzler, and DeJesus (2013), and the article by Howard, Carrazza, and Woodward (2014), and
- Cite at least one other scientific article that you find on your own that uses the aggressive model in an applied way or discusses the social learning of eating or linguistic diversity. For example, as the articles cited in the Learning unit do. You may not use any of the articles cited in the unit other than those listed above, but you may use articles that those papers cite.
- Use in-text citations for any citations you include in your References page.
- A section that answers the following question: The study by Bandura and his colleagues appears to show that the aggressive model, who is an adult and therefore a figure of authority to young children, condones the use of aggression by displaying it and therefore promotes imitation of aggression by the children who watched. Give an example from the modern adult world (e.g., sports, politics, education) where this type of process appears to be occurring.
- A section that addresses the following: The article by Shutts, Kinzler, and DeJesus reviews several studies that show how social learning is involved in the way humans learn to choose the food they eat. 1) Describe an example from your own experience that is representative of the social learning of eating. The example can involve yourself, other family members, or friends and acquaintances of any age. 2) Be sure to include how the learner was influenced by the way in which the model (i.e., the person(s) whom the learner observed) was somehow similar to the learner.
- A section that addresses the following: Howard, Carrazza, and Woodward state “infants’ incidental exposure to linguistic diversity in neighborhood situations (such as parks, bus rides, or visits to the grocery store) influenced their propensity to learn from outgroup members” (p. 477). Are the experimenters justified in making such a strong statement? Could there be another explanation other than linguistic diversity?
The introduction and these three response sections should be approximately 750 words total, or about
two to three typed pages using double-spacing 12-point font and 1-inch margins. Do not submit more than 1,000 words for the introduction and three response sections. You are required to hit the word minimum (750) not the page length.
You will need to include a References page (final page of paper)—this will include the three articles listed above and the article that you choose (you may include others if you wish provided you have mentioned them somewhere in your paper)
Since this is not a report of an experiment that you have done, you will not include Method, Results, or Discussion sections.
