Applied Research Paper – Exploring Toddlerhood: A BioPsychoSocial Perspective on Development

Select any segment of early childhood development periods discussed in the textbook (infancy, toddlerhood, early childhood, middle childhood). Once you have selected your age group, find an opportunity to spend at least 30 minutes observing an individual in that developmental phase. You will use this personal observation/interaction to support your academic review of the developmental phase. This is intended to be an informal observation. You may observe a child you know (younger sibling, cousin, etc.) or children from your work or contact the FGCU childcare center to inquire about observation opportunities for students (show the syllabus and assignment outline).

You will use the BioPsychoSocial Framework to evaluate the subject you observed/interacted with. Research peer-reviewed articles related to the biological, psychological, and sociological developmental issues of your selected developmental phase. There should be at least one peer-reviewed journal article for each of the three aspects (Bio-Psycho-Social).

You will also select a developmental theory to apply to your identified developmental phase. You will use your observation/interaction to support your analysis of the developmental theory.

The paper should also discuss the practical implications of working with this age group, and any potential ethical dilemmas that may arise during practice. Your final discussion will explore your feelings related to the assignment.

For me, I observed Gianni, a 2 year old, at his house, playing with a variety of toys right after getting picked up by his mom from daycare. This was on December 4th, 2024 from 5:00PM to 6:00PM. Please follow these instructions and guidelines very carefully. I need every portion of these intructions/outlines to be addressed in this paper
