DATA ANALYSIS AND REPORTING FINDINGS
Your project results must be reported with sufficient rigor and data detailing the methods used to establish trustworthiness and representing suggestions for best practice. As you analyze your data, you draw some
conclusions that are continuously modified or verified when you encounter new evidence. In other words,
data analysis is the means to an end with the outcome as information that is applied in practice as a
quality-of-care improvement initiative.
The goal is to have nursing-sensitive outcomes that demonstrate the effectiveness of nursing care.

Chapter 5 focus is on the introduction and conclusions.
Introduction – This section overviews the main contents and sections of the chapter. The introduction should present an overall analysis and interpretation of the findings of the study and highlight recommendations for future projects.
- Conclusions – This section highlights the findings reported in Chapter 4, drawing a correlation between the results and the contention of the investigation, attempting to place the findings within the conceptual framework of this study. The framework of the study may incorporate the history of the project
- topic and assist in highlighting the value of performing this study. Your conclusion should draw
- together the topic, raise any points that have not been addressed by the project, and indicate areas
- where
- more project is needed. Conclusions should correlate back to the DNP goals.
- Recommendations – This section includes suggestions for further project(s) as developed from the
- project or found to be lacking in the literature. Such recommendations have developed during the
- investigation concerning the focus of the topic under study. The project may have revealed that there are several areas open for further or new investigation. Suggestions as such are denoted and logically organized in this section. Recommendations should correlate back to the project goals.
Chapters 4 and 5: Summary
Build on the previous Chapters 4 and 5 documents to fill in the next section of your conclusions to create
the summary: Summary – This section provides a summary of the important points of this chapter
including a brief restatement of the problem, the types of literature reviewed, and the project methodology employed in this investigation. What has been the broad purpose of the investigation? Restate the
objectives and discuss whether they were met. How well did the methodology work in the study? This
section generally provides an overview of the implications of the study. The summary of your project provides an overview of the implications of the study. This week you will continue working on the final chapters of your manuscript and this is your opportunity to review the purpose, key findings, and overall impact of your study. Keep in mind that this is the final aspect of your DNP that will be read, so you want to avoid being repetitive and instead, you will focus on the central take-home message of your investigation.
Objectives:
- Critically reflect on the development of knowledge, skills, and techniques during the preparation of the DNP
- Summarize the purpose, methods, and findings of the DNP into a clear, concise abstract
- Structure a DNP according to the strict formal APA style
- Communicate empirical information in proper APA format
