Your essay will include the following:

• Four to five developed body paragraphs that each have a topic sentence, specific examples from your primary and secondary sources to argue for your proposed solution or solutions and why they will work, and transition to the next paragraph
• A refutation paragraph that acknowledges, accommodates, and refutes the opposing viewpoint
• A strong conclusion that wraps up the essay in a satisfying way and explains the importance of this writing

• Utilize primary and secondary sources to support claims
• Develop MLA citation skills for unusual sources
Getting Started
To get started, make a list of all the communities that you are a part of or know about. After you’ve selected a community, consider the following questions: What is something that this community needs and doesn’t already have? What is something that is negatively impacting this community that needs to change? What are the goals of this community, and what resources do they need to meet these goals?
Other Requirements
• Your essay should be 4 ½-6 full pages, double-spaced, in 12 pt. Times New Roman font, and submitted in MLA format.
• You will use at least 2 primary sources for this essay. Primary sources include personal interviews, song lyrics, a YouTube video, a personal blog, social media posts, etc.
• You will also integrate at least 2 sources from the Wor-Wic databases (1 of which should be peer-reviewed); sources must be cited in-text and in a Works Cited page.
Here is my positionality statement- Before further mentioning my findings to my argument, I would like to acknowledge my role as a Parkside graduate. I attended a normal high school but grew up in a conservative household. I went into my freshmen year not having any knowledge on what grooming is or being taken advantage of. I didn’t know what things were wrong for example the older male attention I was receiving and not understanding the huge age gap. I want to be an advocate and speak out against the ignorance around young girls being approached my men who are about to graduate. They look at the freshmen girls like “fresh bait” and make bets on who can get one. I consider myself to be credible authority to this community because I relate and wish I would’ve known sooner that it was wrong.
