This is essay assignment requires you to engage with writing as a thinking process. Building on skills you
have practiced through our in-class discussions, assignments, and worksheets, you are asked to work toward
and produce an argumentative essay in which you provide a close reading of one of the texts we have studied
in response to essay topic below. To ensure you develop the best possible argument for your
essay, the writing of the essay will be the final component of a multi-step process outlined in separate
components as detailed below. You must complete all components to be able to pass this assignment. As
such you are asked to submit your essay (Component 4) with an appendix containing your “thinking-through writing” work for components 1, 2, and 3.
Collectively all components must add up to the required 1000-1250 word count. The essay assignment is due in DropBox on D2L no later than 11:59pm on March 14, 2024. Essays will
be graded using a grading rubric provided on D2L.

complete this essay, but should you choose to consult and/or use any secondary sources in developing your
