THE HEALTH ISSUE : OBESITY
Length: 2 – 4 pages

In this second of three written assignments, you will work with the health issue you identified in assignment one (OBSESITY) and will consider the current status of how the issue is (or isn’t) being addressed. For this assignment, you do not need to write a formal paper; you may simply copy each of the following headings (Prevention, Treatment/Intervention, Actors, Laws, Programs, Additional Context, References), and then answer the questions listed below. Everything you write can be used as part of assignment three and your final paper (the policy analysis project).
Prevention – Is your health issue preventable? Consider the levels of prevention (primary, secondary, tertiary, and optionally primordial and quaternary), and, if applicable, discuss what could be done regarding your health issue at each level of prevention.
Treatment/Intervention – Is your health issue something that is treatable? What are the current treatments? If your health issue is a risk factor or exposure, what are current interventions designed to address the issue?
Actors – What health system actors are involved in the prevention and/or treatment of your issue? What actors in the government or legal system are involved with this health issue? Are there other important actors to consider (businesses, schools, community groups, places of worship, etc.)?
Laws – Are there current laws or regulations that pertain to your selected health issue?
Programs – Are there any government, non-profit, or private programs that address your selected health issue?
Additional Context – Is there any additional information or context about your selected health issue that would be important for policymakers, health care workers, and/or public health practitioners to understand to begin working on ways to address/improve the issue?
References – A full list of sources that informed your writing and that you have cited
