This project will be in the format of a POWERPOINT – With Pictures and sslides.
to the course and fits within one of the three units we cover in the course. I have provided a list of history
books that may be of interest and are available through FSU’s library. You are free to identify an eBook relating
to the course on a topic that interests you, but you need to let me know so I can add it to the appropriate unit.
Each student will complete an untraditional “review” of the book. These can be in the form of a video,
PowerPoint/Google Slides or equivalent presentation, actual or virtual field trip, song, or artistic creation. Each
Un-Review will incorporate an analysis of the book in some format, a connection of the book to a topic or
primary source covered in the class, and your personal expansion of what you learned into historical inquiry
that you want to share with the class. They will be submitted through the class Google Slides for each unit.
Due dates will correspond to the unit the book relates to, see the syllabus.
Each student is responsible for one Un-Review and at least 8 comments/responses to classmates’ projects.
These must be unique and substantial comments (not basic compliments ie. “good job, this was interesting”).
The Un-Reviews and comments will be through Google Drive, linked through the Blackboard menu. Make sure
you are logged in to your FSU Google Student account. Keep a log document of your comments because you
will submit that at the end of the course as part of your Un-Review grade. Length and word-count will vary
depending on the choice in how you present it. You will be graded on 1) understanding of monograph (book)
you chose 2) how you connect it to the content of the course 3) how you extend the idea beyond the course 4)
how you convey what you learn to the other people in the course 5) the effort you make assessing and
discussing other people’s Un-Reviews.
