Note for approaching #3: This prompt is challenging because many of us don’t have specific ideas about what wonder actually is and what its effects are. But if you are interested in awe, the sublime, ecstasy, and amazement, then this prompt invites you to think about how wonder might be an essential human experience in the search for the truth, which for Jesus and Rumi means God. You should consider what kind of qualitative experience wonder is. What causes it? What is the experience like? It is also important to consider wonder as a tool that Jesus and Rumi use: it is a means to some end. What kind of tool? Is it a catalyst? An educational experience? A glimpse at the truth? A sign of desire? Then, most importantly, why is wonder the right tool to achieve the particular end?
