Brief Outline: I disagree with the idea that Brexit demonstrated a need for free movement
restrictions of citizens in the EU.
● Reasons: based on myths/lack of evidence, economic benefits (filling gaps in workforce,
creation of new jobs in service sector, tourism) → slippery slope (once you start to put
restrictions, could lead to a complete removal of immigrants/migrants) → integration of
new cultures, undermines the concept of a United Europe and can lead to a lack of
cooperation, is an overall net benefit to everyone
Counterarguments: social disconnection (disrupts culture), cultural erosion, ‘brain drain’,
security reasons, labor market competition, migrants working for less, pressure on public
services

DIFFERENT SPIN ON THIS, GO AHEAD. JUST SUPPORT IT WITH AMPLE
