Oftentimes uniquity and resilience go hand in hand.  Throughout my experience during the internship, this relationship was made very clear.  Companies that deviate significantly from the competition need to be particularly resilient.  From the development of a novel product, to the successful marketing of the product, these companies are going against the grain.  A company with a truly unique product has no blueprint for success, and is creating everything from scratch.  The company needs to be prepared for extensive trial and error, and losing valuable money and time in the process.  If the company can remain resilient and uphold its uniquity with pride even in the face of adversity, it has the potential to stand out from the competition and be successful.

The same can be said for Sam Hell.  He stood out from the rest of society, which was a blessing and curse.  He was often made fun of and ostracized by his peers growing up due to his uniquity, which in turn made him resilient.  Additionally, his uniquity played a role in forging meaningful relationships.  The people that did not bully him proved that they supported him unconditionally, which led to meaningful connections that went beyond the surface.  In essence, Sam had an unconventional appearance, and had to experiment with how he navigated society.  In the end, his uniquity became an asset that allowed him to transcend his appearance and become a resilient and successful person.
