The Project & Requirements:
There will be an individual research project and reading assignments designed to help you
apply the concepts that you are learning in this class in a real-world situation.
The project will
focus on management strategies, ethics and social responsibility (including environmental
issues, intentional use of inferior materials to build, etc).
Each student is required to choose a
particular large real estate firm or any major company in the construction, architectural or
energy industry. Give an overview of the organization including its corporate mission and
objectives, its size, location(s), and operations strategies, and how it has impacted people and
the immediate/external environments. Identify its major market(s), clients or customers, and
the various environmental/regulatory forces and ethical issues affecting its operation.
Suggest
better ways of successfully managing/operating the organization in a socially responsible and
profitable manner.
The research project must be well documented in a type-written report form of between
10 – 15 double-spaced pages (excluding the title page, the table of contents and any
appendices).
Your documented project report will be assessed based on its originality and relevance, grammatical expression, spelling, design (including the overall packaging of your
report), and of course, timeliness of submission. Any plagiarism will be seriously penalized
