Everyone must answer the “Calculate Energy Needs” question for their initial post.
Calculate Energy Needs
- You can use your own info, that of another, or of a made-up person’s BMR using the Harris Benedict Equation (you MUST show your work).
- Note the person’s height, weight, and sex assigned at birth.
- Use the appropriate activity factor for this individual’s activity level in PowerPoint 3-3 to determine the Total Energy Requirement per day (textbook & PP 3-3).
- Compare the Total Energy Requirement to Table 3-2 (chapter 3). Is your answer consistent with the calories needed per the table? Why or why not?
Everyone must answer one of the following questions for your 2nd post.
1. Pick a cultural diet different than your own. Explain at least four facets of the diet. If you were to move to this country, could you adapt to the food habits? Why or why not?
2. Identify and create two plates of meal examples/plates that illustrate the correct distribution of foods as described by MyPlate.
- Attach two pictures of plates you’ve created
- Write a five-sentence minimum paragraph as to how food types/groups should be distributed using MyPlate.
- Do not use pictures from the internet.
