- Conduct basic research using library tools

- Incorporate various sources into essays using appropriate documentation format
Instructions
Step 1: PowerNotes Lesson/Tutorial
Before completing this assignment, you must read the Welcome to PowerNotes lesson and watch the embedded tutorials. Do not create your outline before doing so. You will learn how to create an account, add the PowerNotes extension to your browser, annotate your research, and use that research in a PowerNotes generated outline.
Step 2: Create Your Project/Outline and Annotate
Once you’ve learned how to use PowerNotes, you will first create a project (outline) using PowerNotesLinks to an external site.. Next, you will find examples from the research you did through the LMC library databasesLinks to an external site. to annotate and embed into your outline.
Step 3: Outline Requirements
After you’ve created a PowerNotes account and added the extension, you’ll know how to annotate your research and create a PowerNotes outline, which you will eventually submit. In the outline, you need to meet the below requirements:
- Create a Working Thesis (this is just an idea…doesn’t have to be set in stone)
- Create 3 Points (that tie in with your working thesis)
- Add 3 Quoted Examples (to any of your points)
- 2 quoted examples must come from your researched LMC library source
- 1 quoted example from Just Pursuit
- Note: Library source quotes must include notes taken through PowerNotes from you. You must show you did more than simply copy quotes or cite a source. Instead, show you engaged with your research by taking notes with PowerNotes on what you’ve included in your outline.
Once you’ve got the above, you will download that outline and upload it to this assignment.
Please note, your outline is listing the bare minimum for your essay and is just a starting point. Since essay 2 is longer than essay 1, for your final draft, you will want more examples (not listed in your outline perhaps) and more body paragraphs (go beyond the 5-paragraph structure). Each point you come up with can be more than one paragraph!
