You may write a case study on social identity theory. For this case study, please watch an episode of the show, Stranger Things. I want you to look at Season 1, Episode 2 (available on Netflix but if access to Netflix is at all an issue, but you would prefer to do this option, then please reach out and let me know).
- Select an idea or concept from Social Identity Theory that you want to use to explore the episode. After watching the episode, use the theory to explain a scene (or scenes):
- Briefly describe the scene and the communication that explicates concepts of social identity theory
- Select and define at least 2-3 of those concepts (e.g., in-group vs out-group; intergroup bias, social categorization, social identification, social comparison, etc.)
- Apply these 2-3 concepts to the scenes you selected (i.e., how do we see these concepts playing out in the scene?
