. Case Study of Organizational Leadership Paper (25 points out of 100; Week 9 and
Week 14 Deadlines):
Observing leadership in action is essential for a deeper understanding of what works and what doesn’t when applied in organizations. As you read and discuss ideas about leadership, plan to research, write, and present a paper about an organization you’ve worked for as an anthropologist or consultant might—by trying to understand the underlying
beliefs, values, and assumptions of that organizational culture.
· Pay attention to those who have assumed leadership roles, formal and informal, in the organization and their use of power, influence, and strategic moves. As you continue to observe that organization, identify its most salient leadership challenges and develop one or more strategies to address those leadership challenges.
Selecting your current or most recent organization may be easiest to study as you’ll have the most access to (and best recollection of) its people and activities. While the written case studies will be kept confidential, please consult with your instructor if you have privacy concerns. You will present your case study in class in Week 14. The case study paper, assigned in place of a final exam, should masterfully demonstrate what you’ve learned about
leadership and organizational culture throughout the semester. To do that:
• First, select your overarching leadership-related themes relevant to your chosen organization from among the themes we’ve discussed each week this semester. Use no more than two or three overarching themes (e.g., motivation, teamwork) covered in our class.
• Second, explain how your observations about leadership challenges and recommendations fit into those overarching ideas using authoritative and academic references.
Follow the organizational structure below for your paper. The completed case study should have the following SEVEN sections, all clearly marked with headings throughout the paper:
