Potential Change Project Paper – The purpose of this assignment is to enhance the student’s understanding of change processes at the organizational level.
- Each student will select a proposed potential change within the context of one of your clinical sites
- This potential change project paper is about the change process, not the topic of the change that will occur.
- The student will analyze how this change will be introduced, implemented, and evaluated.
- This assignment is required to be submitted through Turnitin.com on Canvas.
- Review the grading rubric for specific criteria.
- Assume your reader has no knowledge of the potential change and the change processes.
- Only keep quotations to phrases that have some impact which would be lost if you were to paraphrase. Otherwise, paraphrase when possible.
- Paper should be in APA format (7th edition), 4-5 pages in length, using peer-reviewed journal articles as references.

GRADING RUBRIC: CHANGE PAPER
Introduction (10 points):
- Identify a potential change project based on your experiences on a clinical floor. Clearly articulate and describe:
- The nature of the potential change project you are proposing to undertake,
- Specific concepts related to the potential change project,
- Your rationale for pursuing this potential change project.
Body of the Paper (60 points in total):
- Section ONE (25 points).
- Describe how you intend to plan and prepare for your proposed change project during the Unfreezing Stage of Lewin’s Change Theory (gather data, determine if change is needed and communicate need for change to stakeholders)
- Describe the strategies would be used for motivation and support for the change process.
- Use at least two (2) professional peer-reviewed journal articles to support your discussion.
- Section TWO (10 points): Describe the driving and restraining forces that will impact this potential change.
- Section THREE (10 points): Discuss the communication channels that should be used to promote the potential change:
- Include formal and informal types of communication.
- Include direction of communication (upward, downward, horizontal, diagonal)
- Include any relevant examples and significant stakeholders.
- Section FOUR (15 points): Identify and describe how the change will affect: Workload, budget, quality, and patient satisfaction. Describe the probability of success and what systems will be affected.

- Reflect on the following:
- How has this potential change project analysis influenced your awareness of the change process?
- Why is change necessary for organizations and how will this change impact the environment that was assessed?
