Case Study : Ronald’s Hardware
Ronald’s Hardware located in Windsor, Ontario is made up of
the owner, Ronald Green, and his 55 employees. Ronald does not employ a Human
Resources employee or a Health and Safety employee on his team as his company
is so small.
Recently, Ronald had a conversation with his friend, Petra
Hall. Petra works for a large manufacturing facility in Milton, Ontario. Petra
is responsible for both Human Resources and Safety at her organization. Petra
was sharing with Ronald all of the legal responsibilities she has at work.
While Ronald was listening to Petra talk, he became increasingly concerned as
he does not have anyone addressing these legal issues at his company.
Ronald has a lot happening in the next 6 months. He will be
hiring a new Supervisor, addressing an increasing number of back injuries in
the warehouse, employee complaints about overtime pay and how to deal with
rumours of a union drive at his company. Please make that the reference is the attached chapters (8 & 9) from the book Human Resources for Operations Managers (Author: Connie Palmer).
Question : Explain in detail to Ronald how to ensure all three of the following areas of his business are compliant with Equity, Diversity and Inclusion expectations and legislation. (a) recruitment, (b) company culture and (c) leadership. In addition to your explanation, be sure to provide Ronald with specific examples so he knows what kind of action he needs to take in each of these three areas.
