Consider the plethora of information presented in Chapters 4 and 5: Transitioning from print newspapers and print magazines to online newspaper and magazine content.
1. Consider the following:
- The early newspaper content and how it was presented
- Print magazine and how it was presented
- The early audiences vs the current audiences for print newspapers and the modern day audiences for digital newspapers and magazines. Discuss the relationship between news media and their readers. Also discuss hybrid papers and magazines.
- Explain the convergence of newspaper and magazine content with Internet and mobile technologies.
- Discuss how advertising played a role in both early newspapers and print magazines vs how advertising plays a role in digital content.
- Discuss competition in the industry and market
- Discuss how monetary concerns played a role in both the distribution and transition of print to online content.
**All of the above should be presented in 3-4 pages.
2. THEN, you will incorporate a Visual Element. You will create a new digital newspaper/magazine visual presentation. It will ultimately look like actual magazine and newspaper articles, but in digital format. You may use any online platform or software you’d like. Canva is great option, but even a basic Power Point slide will suffice. You will re-create any story or article already in print – which means you will have to go out and get a newspaper or magazine. Turn that newspaper or magazine article content into a digital story. Re-write the story in your own words. You may even use multiple print stories if you’d like. Provide me a link to whatever content you use so I can compare how you executed the transition from print to online content. You will incorporate multimedia elements (links, images, photo galleries, video), into your digital newspaper or magazine article. You may present this as 1, singular page of content, or you may present each page separately like a slide show (Power Point, Canva, etc.)
3. THEN, you will combine the 3-4 page written portion with your visual element or presentation, save that all as 1 file and submit your entire Written Project as 1 file. Upload that file to the Submission Box in Brightspace.
4. This Written Project #1 will be due by January 11, 2025.
