Cinderella Fairytales( grimm) comparison to other versions or different stories.

comparison essay:

You will do a close reading and analysis of two fairytales. There is an online list of the tales you may choose from in Unit 1 in Blackboard. Your task will be to select two tales, and read them. You may select two versions of the same fairytale or you may select two fairytales that have enough similarities to compare. A comparison can only take place effectively if the two writings being compared have enough in common to make the comparison valid. Then your job is to see where the two stories are different. Here are some possible ways to focus your thesis:
2. Compare a variety of topics or attributes explored in each fairytale: for example: bravery, stupidity, morality, cleaverness, intelligence, evil, faith, cruelty etc.
3. Or you could compare the value of the fairytales: for children, for adults, or both.
• You need to make an assertion in your thesis, however! Don’t simply say that there will be a comparison of the two fairytales, but say why. (both fairytales explore faithfulness, both are too violent for children but entertaining for adults, etc.)
This is a comparison essay
3rd Person/ present tense: (no “I” or “You.”) That means you will say “Hansel is a very strong willed person” not “I think Hansel is a very strong willed person” not “You can see that Hansel is a very strong willed person . And certainly not “Hansel was a very strong willed person.”
