Step 1: Reading your article:
- Access your assigned article (articles will be assigned during first class session; see syllabus or below for article references and instructions on accessing articles).
- Read article thoroughly. Apply strategies for enhancing reading comprehension.
Step 2: Prepare a one-page, 2 paragraph typewritten account of the article:
- Paragraph 1: Provide summary and commentary on ONE main point from the article that you found particularly relevant and poignant to you as a budding OT.
- Paragraph 2: Provide summary commentary on ONE main point from a case story example in the article that you found particularly intriguing (if there is no case story, provide commentary on a second main point from the article).
- The written report should be formal and professional in tone, and incorporate profession-specific terminology. Graduate level sentence and paragraph construction as well as grammar is expected.
- Written report should follow APA format, including title page, page #s, double-spacing, third person perspective, in-text citations, and full reference.
- Your written summary should not exceed one side of one page. On the next page, please provide proper APA reference for your article.
- Finalize your report only after proofreading and revising as much as is necessary, consulting these directions and the criteria for success.
Step 3: In-class Journal Club Meeting, verbal report:
- Provide a 2 – 3 minute verbal summary of the main points of your article. During our class session on this topic, we will gather in your small groups. Each student will report on their summary of their article.
