Comparative Analysis of Cellular Replication in Bacteria, Viruses, and Eukaryotes

Purpose: To gather information from your sources for your research paper.

An annotated bibliography is a list of citations references that includes an explanation of how/why each reference will be useful to your paper. Each properly cited reference is followed by a brief descriptive and evaluative paragraph. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited. Annotations describe the contents of the source and make evaluative judgments about how useful it will be.

Task:

1)      Identify 5 references to be used in your paper. Only two of these can be a website. Three must be either a primary research journal article or a secondary source article.

2)      Once your sources have been identified. Start by reading through them carefully and taking notes. Focus your reading by asking these questions: Why did they do this study? What were the questions they were trying to answer? What methods did they use? (don’t get bogged down by the details) What were there main findings? (Look closely at the figures provided.) What conclusions can be drawn from the data?

3)      Take your notes and write your annotation. Be sure to start each entry with your reference Formatted in APA Format.

Criteria:  Must have 5 references, Must have citation formatted in APA Style, Annotations should contain all elements.

Each annotation for your primary article should contain the following elements:

·         The author’s hypothesis/question addressed by the article

·         The author’s evidence to support or refute the hypothesis (i.e., the results)

·         The conclusions from the research and any recommendations the authors have (i.e., the discussion)

·         An explanation of how this research is useful to your paper and presentation.
