You must write a comparison/contrast argument of no fewer than 750 words. Compare and contrast the significance of poverty in Nguyen’s “The General Retires” and Murakami’s “My Cheesecake-Shaped Poverty.” Your first paragraph must contain a thesis statement contrasting poverty in the two stories.
Your next two or three paragraphs should each have a topic sentence about poverty in one of the texts. Each paragraph should have at least two quotations and specific references from “The General Retires” and/or “My Cheesecake-Shaped Poverty.”. FAILURE TO QUOTE FROM BOTH TEXTS WILL RESULT IN A “O” ON THE PAPER.
