ESSAY Requirements
Read
Whyatt’s article ” Violence against native women has colonial roots.” In
the stories Any Further West, Sisters
and Sabrina Corina Fajardo-Anstine focuses on family and
community cycles of violence, drug dependency and economic dependency. Write an
essay in which you compare/contrast the women in these stories and discuss how
these factors influenced your personal understanding of past and current conditions
for minority and mixed ethnicity women in America.
Requirements for option ESSAY:

Your essay must use at least three of
the Unit key terms (see attached) and show a clear
application and understanding of how those ideas influence your response.

Your essay must have a clear debatable and
original thesis statement at the end of your introduction
. Add a title to your essay

Your essay must use at least one of the
additional readings/viewing (see attached sources or links) beyond the text ” Sabrina & Corina” (See book attached)
·
Your essay may only use 1 scholarly
outside source besides the materials provided in the class Unit. This
resource must come from a library and can not be a news based resource
like a newspaper, magazine or digital blog.
·
Your essay must have clear MLA 9th editions
citations and a works cited page.
· Your essay must show evidence from the primary stories in
the book Sabrina & Corina via direct quotations. Your direct
quotes are not allowed to exceeded 3 lines of text. While Block quotes
are a credible type of quotation approach you are not allowed to use
them.

Clearly explain how/why your
evidence supports your point(s) Writing Analytically about a story, poem, or
real-life nonfiction narrative requires you as the writer to examine it and
develop an argument using specific “lense(s”) to create an argument, persuade a
reader to think like you, or compare relationships between
character(s)/event(s).

Plagiarism or AI-generated writing
is NOT accepted
