Discussion Assignment:
Overview: Behavioral determinants of health are the daily choices that individuals make in their activities of daily living. These behaviors increase exposure to the causative factors that result in disease or protect persons from disease. Behavioral determinants impact the development of disease and the progression of a disease, particularly the noncommunicable diseases. Because these determinants are often personal behavior choices, they are hard to regulate and control.
Biological determinants of health are categorized as endogenous or exogenous. Endogenous biological determinants consist of the genetic heritage that is attained from maternal antibodies. Genetic heritage is molded by reactions to biological and environmental encounters to which human ancestors were exposed. Genetics influence the DNA composition that regulates blood type, metabolism, types of cancer, and various other conditions. Exogenous biological determinants of health are the vast living things with which humans interact.
