ASSESSMENT
DETAILS
In the second
assessment you will examine the development of two; test construction articles
available in the assignment 2 space on Canvas (the .pdf files are among the attachments). You need to discuss the methods
used in their development, using many of the same skills as you used in
assessment 1. However, in this assessment you will be drawing mainly on;
1.
the information gained around validity
and reliability, and
2.
the reported psychometric properties and
3.
methods used in the test construction.
We are not
expecting you to cover methods beyond that which has been taught in this
module. We will expect to see;
1.
evidence of critical thinking and
evidence of applying the module knowledge to these tests.
2.
This means evaluating the strengths
and weaknesses of the claims the authors make about their psychological
instruments.
3.
You will need to look for evidence
behind the paper’s claims, making sure that you mention any important
controversies, incomplete knowledge, or mixed findings on the topic.
The assessment
should be presented in a word-processed document (uploaded as a .doc, docx, or
.pdf) with your name and a word count on a title page at the start. Use
academic writing style and APA-style citations and a References list.
LEARNING
OUTCOMES ASSESSED:
This assessment assesses the following module
learning outcomes:
1. Critically discuss the individual differences approach to
psychology
2. Critically evaluate approaches to understanding intelligence,
personality or psychometrics in the context of individual differences
3. Demonstrate an ability to discuss the theoretical and practical
issues involved in personality and intelligence research
Note
that to pass the assessment, all learning outcomes must be met.
