In your essay, you should cover the following points:
- State very clearly which aspect of globalisation you will be focusing on and whether you will be discussing its impact on teaching and learning, policy, identity, cultural adaptation, etc.
- Develop a discussion of globalisation of education – summarise key debates, then choose the definition of globalisation you will be using and why it suits your topic and context.
- Following on from the above, summarise key debates about the impact globalisation of education has on various areas of international education, what type of impact it and as felt by whom? Then narrow it down to the discussion of the impact on the specific area you have decided to focus on.
- Start each section with a topic sentence – i.e. a sentence that will summarise they key argument you will be making in each section/ paragraph – this will help the reader to focus the mind on your argument and to judge whether you have presented enough evidence (academic references and insights from your experience or that of others), to support the claims you are making. This will also help you with writing, as you can keep coming back and forth to that topic sentence, to make sure you stay focus on your argument.
- If it helps, you could organise each section of your essay under sub-headings which would capture the key arguments you will be making.
- The conclusion should summarise the key points you have raised in your essay and develop a short discussion of how your insights contribute to wider debates about the impact of globalisation on various aspects of international education.
