Quick Description: Using the population affected by a nutrition-related chronic disease that you selected for the first assignment, you will do an extensive literature review to develop a theoretical model of determinants of dietary intake within this population that contribute to their health and risk for disease.
(The population I chose is African Americans and the nutrition-related chronic disease is hypertension/high blood pressure. See my attachment of the “Description” assignment for reference)
Assignment Objectives:
- Critically analyze and synthesize scientific literature related to dietary intake determinants in this specific population.
- Identify and explain key factors influencing dietary habits and their impact on health outcomes.
- Develop a theoretical model that visually represents the complex relationships between various determinants of dietary intake.
Detailed Description & Deliverables: You will develop and submit a 3-page single-space paper (excluding references) that includes:
- A brief introduction to your chosen population and the significance of understanding their dietary intake determinants.
- A comprehensive discussion of the key determinants of dietary intake identified through your literature review.
- An explanation of how these determinants interact and influence health outcomes and disease risk in your chosen population.
- A conclusion summarizing the main findings and potential implications for nutrition interventions or policy.
- A figure (chart, graph, table, etc.) that visually represents your theoretical model of dietary intake determinants.
Evaluation Criteria:
- Depth and breadth of literature review (25%)
- Clarity and coherence of the theoretical model (25%)
- Quality of analysis and synthesis of information (25%)
- Logical flow and organization of ideas (25%)
